Our Mission:

Our Mission is to empower the next generation of computer science teachers and technologists while igniting sparks of creativity and passion in students.

How we work:

We partner with public schools to provide students with After School Programs and Summer Camps using Coding/Robotics activities with an emphasis on imparting computational thinking concepts with fun experiential projects.

The projects introduce and reinforce skills in coding and robotics, which are 21st century skills that can help shape their future academic goals and teach aspiring counselors and teachers how to lead and inspire.

Our programs are easy for Camp Counselors/After School Program Instructors to teach. If you have a passion to teach kids, then you will be in the company of like minded people who enjoy this work more than most other jobs.

Qualifications

To teach our programs to kids, no computer programming experience is required. Training is provided to those passionate about leading kids. We are looking for team players and aspiring leaders. To qualify the applicant must have previous experience leading children and or worked in a camp or after school setting or has led children in other ways. Must be able to get him/herself to the school where we teach on your own either with your own car or uber/lyft or other means of transportation.

Duties

    • Teach Coding Activities using our Curriculum and Teaching Materials
    • Learn how to teach in a fun environment with an emphasis on "hands on" project building
    • Assist the team with the care of the children in the classroom/camp
    • Collect the children from pick up area and lead them to classrooms 
    • Assist students by supporting them as they learn; show, support, lead
    • Assist with the Class Materials set up and break down 
    • Assist with dismissal of class and lead children to parent pick up areas
      • Leave classrooms in neat condition
      • SKILLS: Punctuality, team player, great communication abilities, organized, lead by example, lead by motivation, safety and first aid skills are a plus but not required
      • Attends  virtual  trainings and self paced training

Education 

HS Senior or working toward a Bachelor’s degree or higher level education at an accredited institution. 

Dates and Hours

Seeking applicants for Fall 2022 and Winter/Spring 2023. After School Programs start on various dates from September to October and run throughout the school year. We will have ongoing interviews and different starting dates available. You may work when available throughout the school year. The programs are typically from 2:30 to 4:45 PM and vary by school.  

Pay

The pay rate is $15 -$20 per hour depending on experience and role. Training time is paid.  Unpaid Volunteer positions available for 9th and 10th graders

Benefits 

This internship/job will provide you with applicable work experience in a classroom setting and in the field of education, technology and leadership. You will also gain experience working with a team to execute engaging lessons and to think on your feet and also learn some cool projects in Game Design and Robotics. You will receive ongoing training and mentoring throughout your time with us and when requested you may receive a letter of recommendation and endorsements on linkedin from peers and mentors. 

Kids coding lessons give kids an advantage in a highly competitive and technologically focused world. The right STEM curriculums can make a huge difference in a child's life. You can help make this difference.

Hello everyone! My name is Brittany, and I am a Co-founder and instructor for Happy Code Club. In this class, we are going to learn the basics of Scratch to start your coding journey! We will break down coding concepts in a way that is easier to understand through a series of fun, creative, and engaging projects that are all created the way you want! It is your creative masterpiece. Students will have access to a recording for each class in case they want to rewatch the class or weren’t able to attend on a specific day. We will all learn coding together!

We will create a variety of projects using basic block codes and play games that focus on problem solving and critical thinking. This program is designed to be the very first step in their coding journey without being overwhelming or too
advanced! We will all learn coding together!

If you are curious about what coding is or simply want to try something new, this is a fun class to try. See why millions of students from around the world are sharing their awesome creations on the Scratch platform. The creations students make range from Stories, Games, animations, music and more! Get your creativity hats on and come and check this out!

Technology Requirements: Chromebooks or PC or Mac with wifi and a two button mouse recommended.

Winter Dates: Nov 30 – Jan 28

This winter join students from other schools in a zoom class that you can take from your school or home.
This after school club is free for public schools classrooms Grades 3-5 and it will be run for 6-8 weeks in Winter and Spring of 2021 Taught by Happy Code Club teachers with experience in various subjects including Scratch, Python, codehs.com, code.org, Robotics and more.
