Our Mission:

Our mission is to empower the next generation of computer science teachers and technologists with practical and meaningful classroom experiences and to ignite a spark of passion in learning in our students.

Coding Summer Camp Goals:

We partner with Elementary Schools to provide camps that focus on imparting
Computational Thinking (CT) concepts. Kids learn by creating fun experiential projects
using computer languages and applications, and are able to incorporate their own ideas
through coding and digital design. The projects students complete introduce them to and
reinforce skills in Computational Thinking. These 21st century skills can help shape their
future and academic goals.

How to register your school for a summer camp program?

In 2021 we will run coding camps, by request from your school or PTA or Group at your
school only. To hire us for your school’s camp or summer school, fill out the form below.

How to register your kid if no school program in coding is available?
If no coding camp is available at your school in 2021, register to our Online Summer Camp
below. Review the schedule of available online Summer Classes then click on the subjects we
are offering in Summer. Note there are no scholarships available for our Online Summer Camp in 2021
but our camp is one of the most affordable ones available.

Go behind the scenes of video games to learn how they are made. Dive right into programming using the programming language Scratch where you will create animations, develop stories, and solve problems making this class perfect for an introduction to computer programming or as continuation from previous courses. The computer science concepts learned in this class can be used for many coding projects kids are likely to encounter in future endeavors.  It’s fun from the first minute to the last, so come and be a Game Programmer!

Use python to expand your programming lingo and create exciting games using new concepts such as loops and variables. AGES 10-13Game design with python will teach students the power of this coding language as it relates to creating games. Python is an easy to learn yet powerful computer language, used by leading companies such as YouTube and Google, among many others. In this class, students will work to create simple games like rock, paper, scissors, turtle race and/or secret messages (which works on encryption).  Each project is easy for beginners to grasp and provides a transition into more complex concepts and games. Students will also learn how to problem solve errors in a computer program through a technique called “debugging” that will help students identify and fix their problems to get their game to working perfectly!

Let’s design and create our own characters!

If you like drawing, then this is perfect for you. We are going to learn several useful tips to create really awesome characters in FlipaClip! You will learn how to make beautiful animations, limited only by your imagination. You will learn how to make storyboards and use advanced animation skills to make characters come to life onscreen. Principles like Squash & Stretch, Anticipation and Exaggeration will be introduced through fun lessons. At the end of the series you’ll be ready to animate your own short story!

Students embark on their journey in developing games with the powerful Roblox Studio Game Engine. Learn 3D modeling as it relates to game design through several game projects such as completing an obstacle course, designing a unique game world, learning how to model objects, and adding code to make the game characters and scenes come alive! Students will learn the basics of scripting in Lua to add gameplay elements like traps and other game features, including how to publish a completed game and adding elements that monetize a game. When projects are completed students may opt to play each other’s games and  demonstrate their projects to each other on the last day of class. Kids keep access to their coding studio and games they created after the course ends.

Learn Robotics and Programming with Ozobots. These fun little robots are capable of doing amazing things! Kids learn the concepts of programming by using Ozocodes where color codes control the behavior of the robot and you will use them in Mazes and Games, we will even show you how to make your own games where ozobot can play. Through these fun learning activities
kids learn how robots follow only specific instructions and how creative it can be to program a robot with almost limitless potential. It’s fun from the first minute to the last so bring a buddy if
you can or make new friends who also love Robotics and Gaming!

Happy Code Club presents an interpretation of the AppInventor Coolthink Computational
thinking course. The curriculum is based on teaching students to think computationally: to decompose problems, abstract and modularize, reuse and remix existing solutions, and to test
fully to arrive at a working solution. Students will use MIT App Inventor, a blocks-based programming language with a development environment that runs in a browser, to design and
build mobile apps. Students build their digital confidence and become empowered to create, rather than just use technology in their lives

Prerequisites: Previous Coding Classes are very useful as students will know if they want to
learn a new coding language or not. Also if your student has a desire to design and make an
app this is a great way to get started. Students should know that a desire to persevere and find
and solve errors (bugs in the code) is part of the learning process

We will break down coding concepts in a way that is easier to understand through a series of fun, creative, and engaging projects that are all created the way you want! It is your creative masterpiece. Students will have access to a recording for each class in case they want to rewatch the class or weren’t able to attend on a specific day. We will all learn coding together!

This winter join students from other schools in a zoom class that you can take from your school or home.
This after school club is free for public schools classrooms Grades 3-5 and it will be run for 6-8 weeks in Winter and Spring of 2021 Taught by Happy Code Club teachers with experience in various subjects including Scratch, Python, codehs.com, code.org, Robotics and more.
